Bio:
This year I have completed my Bachelors degree in Sculpture and Environmental Art atThe Glasgow School of Art in Scotland, and plan to graduate with Honours next year. I grew up and studied in Edinburgh before moving to Glasgow to further my education in art. Consistent themes that are the basis of my artistic exploration are the expression of identity, while challenging and repeatedly reshaping my own definition of what a self-portrait is and can be. A key influence upon my practice has been growing up on a council estate, and the ways this has shaped my perception of myself and others. I am often confronted with navigating the balance between the contrasting parts of myself, that maybe don’tt easily fit into any pre-existing stereotype of either "artist" or "working class male". I am interested by the relationship between place and self, Specifically where I come from in relation to what I am doing. I often use multiple mediums when exploring ideas regularly adopting photography, video, sound and installation as primary means of exploration.
