Artist Statement:

 Event Organisation:

Head Organiser of DeRIVE: The Assembly Line, 2018 – For this personal project which focused on incorporating Fine Art into nightlife settings, my duties included logistics, graphic design and talent and venue sourcing. This proved to be very successful, and in May 2019, I organised DeRIVE’s second event, Counterflow. Executive Member of Up North Arts: In my role as Social Secretary, I was responsible for organising networking event amongst members and local members of the art community. My duties also included assisting the President with venue sourcing and logistics based on my previous experience. In November 2019, I assisted with the curation of the UN/COVERED exhibition at King Street Studios, as well as exhibiting my own work. Executive Member of Up North Arts: In February 2020, Up North Arts collaborated with the art collective, GRAFT, to set up a series of workshops from professional artists and an exhibition based around these workshops. I was largely involved with liaising with the venue owner in order to hold our exhibition as well as attending weekly meetings to maintainorganisation and time management.

Personal Practice:

Adobe Photoshop: During my studies in Lancaster University, I have developed a strong understanding of digital software through my own work. I have used Adobe Photoshop timeless times in creating my own personal work, as well as social media content for my event projects. I have been able to certify this skill through LinkedIn’s Photoshop skill test. Adobe Premiere Pro: A large part of my personal practice involves making videos, and through my studies I have been able to finesse the program to enhance my work though colour keying, additional graphics and audio editing. I have a fluent understanding of the software and feel comfortable creating content and editing videos using Adobe Premiere Pro.

HTML:

Self trained, I have learned to create my own websites for personal projects using HTML and CSS. This skill has allowed me to add flair to my own websites and create unique hypertexts and interactive sites. Through university, this has also allowed me to personalise my academic blog using Wordpress. Social Media Content: In my previous part time role at The Robert Gillow, I was responsible for posting regular content on the business’ Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts to keep customers engage, as well as interacting with like-minded businesses. I have also had to use social media to create a buzz for my own events, mainly using Facebook to keep people engaged and secure a healthy turn-out. Additionally, during COVID-19, I have used live-streams, Instagram’s IGTV feature and Zoom conferences to give a series of workshops for the Up North Arts society on how to adapt artistic practices to remote living using digital technology.
