BIO:
Jorge Ariel Escobar is a photo-based interdisciplinary artist who is currently pursuing his MFA at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he is an Advanced Opportunity Fellow. His work explores themes of immigrant identity, otherness, and familial connections. Jorge has exhibited throughout the US including group exhibitions at RI Center for Photographic Arts (Providence, RI) and Ground Floor Gallery (Brooklyn, NY). As a solo artist, he has exhibited with The Gallery at Laughing Dog (Harrisonburg, VA), VALET Gallery (Richmond, VA), and Art Works’ Jane Sandelin Gallery (Richmond, VA). He has been an Artist-in-Residence at AZULE, a recipient of the Penland School of Craft Windgate Scholarship, and a recipient of the James Madison University’s CVPA Research Grant as an undergraduate student.
